Hello everyone. I need a little advice from you pros out there.

I have a domain name, a .org, that is the name of a specific, generic product.

my current site for the domain places 1st on google, yahoo, ask.com, and 2nd on msn search engines, and has for over a year.

The value of the domain lies in its SE ranking, the name itself is very specific.

I have had several people ask if I would like to sell it, and 2 days ago was offered $15,000 for it.

I have 3 parties interested in it. All 3 will go higher. How would you suggest I go about getting the best offer, without dragging out the process. I would like to strike while the iron is hot.

Thanks-
rpoko

Put it on Sedo / eBay and tell the 3 parties to fight each other for it.

well... you need to figure out what your target price is and what will satisfy you at this point, getting too greedy at times may result in no sale at all :(

some seo' specialists will work your keyword up to the top for 1-2k tops, guaranteed... so you got something to think about from that perspective... because you definetly should sell the domain while it is in demand and have an offer that pleases you

accepting one offer and turning the other two down while the first one never goes through is something that you should always keep in mind... just know who you are dealing with and use sedo.com/escrow.com to finalize your deal

right now you need to figure out which of the three guys will pay you the most, if you tell guy#1 (the one who you suspect will go the highest and will indeed pay) that for 20k he can have the name and he agrees to this then you are all set... and you shouldn't forget about the other two fellas, you should still keep them close... tell them "ok how about 17k" if one of them agrees, then you got your self another one as a back up... tell them ok, give me a week or two to think it over one more time (or make up whatever other excuse you want) and if guy#1 never pays you have guy#2 waiting in line :)

good luck,

I agree. Put it on Afternic so there's no time limit and it's auction format. Tell the interested parties there are other parties interested, and you're not sure what a fair price is (scare em a little) so you're putting it up on afternic. Then once the bids start flowing..

I disagree with sedo/anic/ebay but I would recommend a trusted third party..

A good one is: "I have several (x) interested parties, I am going to allow one offer to be made by each party, and that is all. Higheste offer wins. Offers can be made to (trusted third party)."

Just reread your title, I'm no pro, just FYI.

Thanks everyone.

I was thinking about doing as Steen said, asking them to give their best bid over $15k, and the highest one wins. That way I avoid a long, drawn out ordeal, and I think it will force all parties to throw out the max they can afford, for fear of the others going higher. All 3 parties know of each other (they are all competitors).

My feeling is that the one who offered $15k lowballed, expecting me to ask for more. They also have the deepest pockets, so I think they'll shoot the highest.

Again, thanks, and any more advice is appreciated.
