Need some suggestions for a message board system

I am currently in the process of making a message board system alternative to vBulletin and others.

I need to come up with something special in order to make the script that much better than any other out there.

Can you maybe suggest something that none of these scripts have that would be useful and that may shift people from buying another product to ours?

add a proper cms system into the boards mechanism.

all of the other boards need hacking to add a portal page... make one available straight out of the box and you meet a lot of peoples needs instantly.

you could also integrate the whole thing a lot more tighter... assign posts to the portal through options when posting.

also a fully working downloads section with permissions per group.

you could also think of creating a small blog for each user which they can link to from their profiles but also use as their own homepage e.g. www.forums.com/blog?userid=1234

then you could allow them to keep a certain number of pictures and items and edit all from the user cp.

also just look at the most popular hacks on vbulletin etc and try to incorporate them into the main functionality... a lot of people want them but do not have the technical savvy to add the hacks manually.
