This is a little different situation that just the usual 'name for sale' post.. please read carefully.

This domain name was the flagship site for a product by a company I created a few years ago. During separation, it was agreed that my ex would operate this company, while I operated the the domain name company. Surprise, the ex did nothing but drain the bank accounts, so on 7/25/03, the judge (a Special Master) ordered the company liquidated.

The Special Master will decide in the next few days exactly how the name is to be sold, but if you are interested, EMAIL ME YOUR TOP BID NOW, and I will pass that recommendation on. If all parties agree, the name could be yours right away, done deal. Otherwise, who knows, adn the longer it drags on, the higher my legal bills.

BIG opportunity here for buyers. No, I don't know the traffic since I have been under court order preventing access to the server (long story).

email me with questions/offers: [email protected]

PLEASE INCLUDE WITH YOUR EMAIL:
Offer Price
Your full name
Daytime phone number
city/state/country
email address

Thanks!

So... are we beginning another one?

May I suggest you not offer the domain for sale until you have (and can demonstrate and prove) 100% complete control over it? Please?

I have a certified California Superior Court Order dated 7/25/03, signed by all attornies involved, Special Master Marc Kaplan and another Superior Court. The entire order is about 60 pages, but I will fax the pages discussing liquidation of Principal Equiti Inc (the company which owns the name) to interested parteis after they've submitted a top bid. Payment will be to an escrow account created by the Special Master himself. There has never been a more secure, legally binding transaction on a domain name on planet Earth.

I will NOT be in control of the domain name itself, the court is handling that. And, as a disclosure here, I am allowed to bid on the name as well, but I suspect (after seeing the freaky Namwinner bids!) that you folks will outbid me.

Hey Dale! Thanks for clarifying.

Look, I don't run the place, but it seems this is a forum for selling domains you OWN and CONTROL. There is another area for getting appraisals and for offers outside the normal "domain for sale" post.

It's not up to me, but we just went through a huge ordeal with a domain with questionable ownership, so you might consider moving this to the Appraisal Forum.

Good name though!

Peace,

WebCat -

I'll be happy to comply with any of the rules here, but I DO own 50% of the stock in the corporation (California, Class C) owns the name, and I have been specifically directed by the Superior Court to participate in the selling of the name. So, I think I should qualify under both "owner" and "control" rules :)

Dale..

I wish you nothing but well, and I'm sorry the Ex screwed you over! Seems like ex's messing things up is the rule, not the exception!

I hope you do well on the name. It sounds right friendly! :)

Peace,

Web, I would think this would be the proper location for it. And, he fully disclosed the situation.

He is trying to do himself and us a favor about notifying the availability of the name.

However, he did not fully disclose if his ex-wife comes with the name?

Thanks, everyone.

I'll further clarify my purpose for posting this. When a California Corporation closes, the assets are sold and creditors paid in this order:

-Taxes
-Lawyers
-Other companies/people

If the sale of assets doesn't raise enough cash, Taxes and Lawyers MUST be paid by the shareholders, but the others are simply not paid. If there is enough cash that EVERYONE is paid there is money left over, it's distributed to shareholders.

Therefore, as 50% shareholder, it's in my perssonal best interest to see that the name Neighbors.com is sold to the highest bidder, even if that's not my other company (Juniper Park). But, if the highest offer here is $100, Juniper Park Inc will make a higher bid and pay the other company.

AUGUST 12 is my next court date; I will take the top offers to the court at that time. I have no idea what the judge will say; it is possible he will say "sold", or may consider more advertising. Either way, this gets you in the game if you're seriously interested.

What do you expect the selling price to be? I am talking ballpark - are we talking $10 or $1,000,000?

Lew -

Honestly, I have no idea. I've not been doing much in the business for a year, and I'm quite frankly shocked at the $5000+ wholesaler bids on names like "shots.com" and "mule.com", so perhaps my name appraisal skills aren't what they should be :)

The court is required to get the best price it can to satisfy creditors... so I'll just pass the bids along.

The name was purchased a couple of years ago (by me) from someone using it for what appeared to be a local ISP. The overall design is from one of those template packages, I did some of the modifications and customizations, but intended to do a major overhaul of the site before the s--- hit the fan.

And, Marketleap gives it a total of 24,228
Add 'www' to the front of the domain. You will notice his true link pop is only 343.

We've only promoted this name as "Neighbors.com"... perhaps that explains the difference. In fact we have a huge trade show booth with the name on it, which is also being sold.

All domains seem to encounter this problem. My domain down.com had a link pop of 40,000. Thereafter I realized with the 'www' it only had several hundred.

In any case Juniper, no need to worry. This is a good generic dot com. Thus it's link pop is irrelevant. It will sell regardless. I just wanted clarify to actnow that to properly calculate a sites link pop you must add a 'www' in front of the domain.

Good luck with your sale.
