Let's say I have a domain still registered at Network Solutions. It's okay nothing too fancy and I have decided I no longer want to use it, pay the renewal fees, or bother with the long exhausting transfer process which most times never work. The email I had in the whois is old and outdated so I didn't bother changing it. However, I found that someone renewed the name I guess in an attempt to keep it from going into the RGP. But I guess since the contact information was outdated they couldn't contact me about buying it.

My question is how can I block people from renewing my domain at network solutions directly off their homepage? I still have access to the domain. Is there an option I can set without having to contact Netsol to just allow the domain to be deleted in the future and put back into the drop pool?

Sorry I don't know the answer. But somebody already renewed the domain for you, you have 1 year to transfer the domain away. It has been reported here their transfer works now, why not give it a kick? :D

If you don't want to bother it.
Someone who renewed it will contact you.

And you can sell it to him / her.

good luck

Actually, this is interesting. It is true that anybody on earth can renew a domain name for you at Netsol. When I still worked there, I noticed this and asked about it. Marketing and Fraud just looked at me like "who cares?" Fact is, Netsol wants to make it as easy as possible for you to accidentally pay them their $35 and renew a domain. They'll take it any way they can get it, even if it ain't from you. Their whole business focus right now is keeping the zillions of names they have right now from expiring. Modifying their systems to allow for BLOCKING renewals would be HERECY!!! A guy could get fired just for thinking it.

Basicly, you're hosed. I'd update the contact information, and wait for the guy who renewed it to contact you. Or you could call NSI and ask support to give you the billing contact info of the last renewal. They might not, but it's worth a shot.

Letting names drop from Netsol is a pain. I have a name there that I was going to let drop and re-register at GoDaddy that expired last summer and they're still clinging to it "as a courtesy" to me. They're pretty desperate out in Herndon these days.

Names-4e-v-e-r has renewed both the .net/.org for names I wanted deleted for the past two years when I did not pay renewal fees. I still have the .com and transferred it away a while ago . The thing is I still have access to the domain to change the whois information. Since the name was never deleted does this give me a right to go into the account and put my information back in and then transfer them away?

Who cares. Just do it. I had a name from netsol for four years. Somehow, this domain recently when from a valid registration , straight to redemption period for a period of two days, then back into valid registration. This was may 25th. I since tried to transfer the name, and now they say the name has only been at netsol since may 25th and I have to wait 60 days. I showed them dialog reports proving that the domain has never left network solutions and they said tough luck. I see names at deleted domains all the time that show on hold status, or redemption, and then go back into valid registration. The exp date is like 6 mos down the road and it baffles me. I think netsol is scamming a hell of a lot of people in order to get another $35 or more out of them. They are by far the worst registrar in the business.

You can transfer them away. Or do anything you like. It's yours. ;)
