one of my clients had a domain that expires on Jun and he didn't renew as he said but he found that during july the ownership of the domain has changed and the domain has moved to eNom.

he said it was his mistake that he didn't renew before 22th jun and he lost the domain now, but i explained to him the domain did NOT drop since its registered since 1998 and moving it to enom got renewed one more year to 2005

the administrative email is still active and wasn't on the domain itself.

so is it possible that there is someway to hack or avoid network solutions system when domain expires and move it away without the authorization of the owner?

what is the possible ways he need to follow to get his domain back? shall we start contacting enom or contacting a US based lawyer who knows more in such issues?

Thanks in advance.

It is possible for registrars to engage in all sorts of monkey business after the renewal date for the registration. Since domain name registrations are subject to a contract in which the expiration date is a material term, one could argue strongly that any rights the registrant may have are extinguished on the expiration date, regardless of whether the registrar deletes the domain name after that date.
