It's rather interesting that the same company will now be in charge of the .us and .cn domains... I guess they don't care if the country is capitalist or communist, free or repressive... just that they can make money selling domains for it!
It's interesting, though, to note that in the glowing PDF document about how important Internet business is and will be in China, three of the four companies they give as examples actually use ".com" names (without the .cn suffix) as their corporate name. (The fourth, Yahoo, is international in nature and has the good sense to avoid having a domain suffix in their corporate name.) It would be more effective to promote how great .cn domains are by using examples of companies that are actually branding and promoting such names and not just the .com version.
