How many times have you come across a new client, they want to change the world. Both parties have great conversation. Hours spent up to the point you find out their domain admin contact is no longer living or were fired?

Without the admin contact, everything stops!

I recently met with someone whose webmaster died. The clients domain along with another 100 are registered with the deceased persons information. :upset:

I'm aware of the long road ahead, any related stories are welcome.

*My goal is to see what domains are available and pickup another 100 clients!

This is the one of the main reasons why I recommend my clients own their own domains under their own account.

Contact their next of kin? The only issue is that it's the next of kin's call what to do with the domains, you might have to pay for them or fight for them.

Usually next of kin won't have a clue if they are valuable or not though they also most likely won't have a clue on how to get the information to access them.

The route taken for now is to submit letterheads with photo copy ID's to the respective registrar. This is a difficult process since many business owners have no clue nor understand the process in place. I'll follow-up with the progress and insight. If they would've come to me first, everything would be copasetic.

What about helping the family out in this time of need. maybe they need help, and someone could help them out if there is anything there of value. They already have enough on their plates.

Help them and if you win a bit as well good for you.

Karma...

In my case it was a guy who was trying to break into hosting (didn't die) but had his client's domains in his name and wouldn't assist in transferring them over. It was a nightmare but basically the company had to prove they were who they said they were. From there it was pretty easy.

I come across this about 40 percent of the time with new clients. Several hours to the project are added just walking through the process. I'm familiar with the sex.com scenario way back in the day, so the process has to be difficult since we're all digitally remote.
