honestly, I don't think the facebook brand has the legs to carry through a phone on itself. Remember that social networking is something that people can grow bored of, mature out of, or just plain don't need anymore.

Google making a phone is understandable. The Google brand is much stronger than Facebook. People will always need information. But only college/high school kids would want 10,000 friends and facebook

Edit: Just checked out the N97. Man, I feel good that I didn't buy an iPhone. This thing has some killer specs. Plus the Nokia brand image...really, no one makes mobiles better than them

yes and google is just a brand not a phone maker if they are good in search market doesn't mean they can start a automobile maker next day ! stick to what you are good at but i guess they just want more profit from there swags (android)

I think most things are down to advertisements and promotion how i first seen the phone it was getting advertised on facebook.com and they have there new advertising service that is doing really good dont forget they are the 5th most popular website in the world .

that doesn't mean they can cross the top mobile maker does it ? having a popular website is one thing and knowing how to make mobiles is another thing !

Linux rules in this space, certainly exemplified by the iPhone. Google derivates are based on this and no doubt wil be any 'facebook' brand. Problem is that Google made a fundamental mistake by taking HTC on board for the manufacture. Without an 'electrostatic' screen like the iPhone they are till eons behind.
