Its officially the Law, federal offense to use misleading domain names to lure people to porn sites:

Amber Alert Provisions
Wed Apr 30, 6:46 PM ET Add U.S. National - AP to My Yahoo!

By The Associated Press

Major elements of the child protection legislation President Bush (news - web sites) signed into law Wednesday:

- Establishes a national communications network to facilitate recovery of abducted children.

_Prohibits supplying or soliciting anything represented to be child pornography, including computer-generated images. Addresses a Supreme Court decision striking down parts of a 1996 anti-child pornography law by requiring that government prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a defendant intended others to believe the material was obscene child pornography.

_Restricts federal judges' ability to reduce sentences for sex offenses and crimes against children.

_Denies pretrial release for defendants charged with child rape or child abduction.

_Allows prosecutors to bring child abduction and sex crime charges for the life of the child victim. Most federal crimes have a statute of limitations of five years, after which a crime cannot be prosecuted.

_Requires life imprisonment for twice-convicted child sex offenders.

_Allows federal judges to order supervision of released sex offenders for the rest of their lives, instead of the five-year maximum for most federal cases.

_Makes it illegal to attempt to take or keep a child outside the United States to avoid custody battles.

_Adds suspected sex crimes against children or sex trafficking as a justification for federal wiretapping of telephones.

_Makes it a federal crime to use a misleading domain name to trick adults into viewing obscenity on the Internet and or to trick children into viewing "material that is harmful to minors."

_Requires convicted child pornographers to register in the National Sex Offender Registry.
_Makes it a federal crime to use a misleading domain name to trick adults into viewing obscenity on the Internet and or to trick children into viewing "material that is harmful to minors." _Makes it a federal crime to use a misleading domain name to trick adults into viewing obscenity on the Internet and or to trick children into viewing "material that is harmful to minors."

This law has given a boost in value to domains that contain the words "sex" and "porn" especially if they are short and relevant, due to the chilling effects alone. I mean a market has just been created for those wishing to sell a "solution" to "protect" an adult website operator from this "draconian" law.

It will also diminish the value of many "type in traffic" domains.

I had the exact same idea myself upon hearing about this law.

whitehouse.gov would become IraqiCivillianMurderers.gov

Bush condemns Saddam for killing civillians - and yet does not see anything wrong with HIMSELF killing them.

So much so, (they are worth so little to him) that he cannot bother to count their deaths - or even keep an estimate.

Such is his contempt for the Iraqi peoples.
