Here is the set up...

You are going to buy a 3 character .COM domain. Since a pure 3 letter domain is too expensive-- you settle on a domain that contains two of the same letter--and one number.

For example L#L -- LL# -- #LL.

In your opinion--what number is more desirable?

Everything from 0-9 is there. I've also included a "Makes no difference" choice.

Thanks for your participation. :D

3 Charecter Dot Coms you mean :)

The hyphen is the least of the charecters. 0 - can be the letter o, 1 can be L or I - and don't me started on number 8 ie gr8 etc!

4 and 2 sound like English (for and to )- and others sound like words in other languages. The number 9 in some cases sounds nice like K9 and B9 etc. Zero is a word by itself - and comes good for search engines.

It makes a diference per domain - but most of them are just cute substitutions

So - in short, it makes a difference - but diferent with each domain.

888--I am shocked. I was sure you would pick 8.

DotComster--Damn you. It's too early in the day to think that hard.

(I did change the poll to ".com" though.)

Yes, I like 8 too, great for online casino like 888.com. 7 is also good as in slot machines.

But I won't put my bet on 8 for general domain names :D.

Yummm... does that include baked potato and salad too? :)

I'm waiting to see if a guy comes thru with the money for a package I listed earlier. I took it down because he promised he would have the money by the end of the day--so I'm considering it sold.

Does that offer stay good untill midnight Digger?

The offers stays until someone buys it. It could be the weekly special! First come first serve.

Mixed are all bad anymore.. But if I had to choose one, I would look for 1, 2, or 4.

4my.net

Zero is the absolulte WORST.

2,3, and 4 are the best numbers because it's easier to make meanings up out of them.

The only 3-character name I need is "dan.info"... no number, no dot-com, but it serves its purpose well.

letter number combinations MUST have a meaning of some sort to have any real value. I had some at one time, but ended up letting most expire with lack of purchase interest. The few I sold had at least some meaning similar to FL2.com or NJ6.net that can stand for Florida too or New Jersey six. I see only minor value from someone wanting a short email address and little real commercial value except for a few exceptions.

The only ones I still own is B8E.com and B8E.net which loosely represent my last name of Beatty (pronounced bait-E).

Three letter domains are a totally different story, since most can be turned into an acronym of some sort.
