Few days ago I received the email below:
(changed the real domain with xxxxxxxxxxxx)

We are selling the domain name xxxxxxxxxxx.com. Since you own a similar domain if you would also like the more desirable .com we are making it available. The cost is $49.95. That includes a year of registration and transfer of ownership to you. To purchase or to learn more go to:

http://www.dcinchq.com/index.php?domain=xxxxxxxxxxxx.com

If you pass on this opportunity someone else could purchase this domain and it may not be available again.

For questions contact us or go to:

http://www.dcinchq.com/faq.html

If you are not interested we will not contact you again.

All the best,

Warren Davis
Digital Caucus, Inc.

I received that email few times before and just deleted, today I received again the same email and I checked the domain and saw that was available to register, I checked the .net and .org extention and I saw that was registered by me months ago, the name is not really important just a name of a little city in Italy so I registered the .com as it was available to register and than thought to let you know.

I don't understand. They are trying to sell you a domain that you own?

that isn't a scam. it is somebody trying to broker available .com's. it is smart when you think about it. maybe someday when they grow up they can broker real names.

I get them often, if you are not interested just delete it. some times they are just tasting and if you don't visit it they might drop it.

They seem to just be saying that they are SELLING the .com version of your name, which, if they can, is not false. From the posted message, they don't seem to be going over the line, in my opinion. This, unlike the domain transfer schemes, could actually be a true service to someone using the .net, etc. who is not a domainer. Smarter yet, though, you looked and likely have regged it for $8! Their notice may have actually been somewhat useful to you.

I knew a taster who was doing this ...they would taste the name ...put out that it was for sale to the person who owns the .net or .org and if you did not buy it...it would drop in a few days...

This guy is just skipping the tasting step.
