I just finished my first real website - www.FreeCustomLogo.com. I made the site with plain html using Notetab. I eventually plan on starting another design site with a better domain, but this was within my budget and capability for now.

Anyway, the site is up and running for the most part. I need some advice on
how to start marketing. What search engines to list it in to get started and how to get links. I'm still new to this.

I'd apperciate any advice or feedback on the site. If you feel you can help me, please PM with your price. I'll also consider free logos for people that can provide links.

Thanks,
Mike

you could always make a banner and advertise it on other peoples sites, depeneds on your budget really, you can try at;

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=27

alot of people there with banner space on there sites, always ask to see a snap shot of there unique visitors

also go to different forums and advertise your services, you can get alot of customers that way, a few forums you can offer your services on

http://www.webhostingtalk.com
http://www.webhostingchat.com
http://www.httptalk.com
http://www.talkadvertising.com

some of the above forums you have to post so many posts before you can advertise, think its 5 for most of them, also advertise it in your sig on forums like you do here

hope this helps you

First thing that strikes me at www.FreeCustomLogo.com is that I can't find the Free custom logos.

Your portfolio is very nice.

Your price is much too high if you are planing on marketing to webmasters/domainers. There are many members here for instance that charge $10-20 for logos. Price is great for unskilled end users. My question is, how many unskilled endusers are there? Seems enyone with a site can produce decent logos or knows a friend that can. it's a very tough biz to be in.

Not sure what keyword you're going after for the search engines. Your site title is Free Custom Logo Samples What is that?

Free logo would be a good phrase to optimize for, but again you don't seem to offer free logos.

"Logo design" is the optimization target, but man that is competitive.

Maybe do this to the top;

<!doctype HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

<html>

<meta NAME="keywords"

Thank you for the feedback. Those are not the prices I charge to DNForum members, they are end user prices. Usually the work I do for forums members is $25 and under.

I just figure if there are sites that get away with charging $150 upfront and $150 upon completion, that $40 might be a good option for whoever pays that much, especially when you get to see what you are buying.

As far as the domain, it was the only .com search term I could find at reg fee. I am still looking for a great name which I will pay alot more for eventually. So far the only really good logo names that I have come across have been .nets and .orgs, and I'd prefer to base my business on a .com.

I own CustomLogo.org but being .org Im sure it will never get typins. The asking price for the .net is $1000. I also have looked into LogoDesigner .org and .us which I can get for a much more reasonable price. LogoDesign.org is going for over $1000, so I'm not sure if the org is worth it. This is the stuff I need help with.

Basically I wasn't to concerned with the name for this site because the whole deal with this one is to learn what I am doing. Maybe a year from now I will have 4 or 5 different sites running, but I want to learn how to run 1 first.

As far as the keyword and meta tags, I know nothing at all about that stuff. That is why I asked for advice. I will make your proposed changes.
