Hi Everyone,

We just debuted a new tool I want to introduce to anyone who hasn't seen it yet. We've partnered with URL Trends to help you research traffic faster with our new domain analyzer.

If you check any domain's offer page you'll see a link at the bottom titled:

Analyze the domain: 'domain.com'

Click on the link and you'll see the following reference information:

Domain Popularity: http://www.domaintechnology.com
PageRank: 0/10
Alexa Rank: Unranked

Link Popularity:
Incoming Google Links: 0
Incoming Yahoo Links: 0
Incoming MSN Links: 0
Incoming Alexa Links: 92
DMOZ Listed: No
Archive.org Listed: Yes

* To see all of the search engine statistics, click here.

I hope you find the tool useful. Your feedback would be welcome and, of course, appreciated.

It's a ridiculous tool to put on all for-sale pages by default, because it will only hurt buyers' perception of names that have not previously been developed.

You could have the best undeveloped generic in the world, but one click of this tool will show a solid string of "no"s and "0"s - which can only damage the value of the domain in the eyes of an unsophisticated buyer (which, lets face it, is most of them!).

Why not set things up so that it is only displayed when people have listed WEBSITES for sale, not domains?

also.. checking the stats of that domain..

its banned from google.. its been about for several years.. its not listed in Yahoo or MSN (MSN list anyone) and it says it has 63 links from Alexa..

Check Alexa Stats Site Stats for domaintechnology.com:

* Other sites that link to this site: No Data

????

This information is about as acurate as SEDO stats it would seem.

Hi Edwin,

I have to say that I don't agree at all. We received a lot of requests to reflect just this type of information. The best undeveloped generic in the world will not show up in archive.org but it definitely will have an alexa rank and show up in overture. The information is very relevant when researching the validity of traffic. Most buyers are already doing this research. We just provided a way to consolidate all the information in one link as a time saver for active buyers.

From who? Buyers or Sellers?

And how do you explain that the results are actually False?

Its a research tool for buyers of course. Please pm me if you see any inconsistencies in the information provided. I'll make sure we get in touch with URL Trends to fix any problems.

He's already stated your inconsistencies which you didn't care to comment on.

The Alexa Rank is incorrect you stated that it has Incoming Alexa Links: 92

Alexa Incoming Links: No Data

Check for yourself
http://www.alexa.com/data/details/?url=domaintechnology.com

As a buyer I would be expected to trust this information..

From a sellers point of view this can be a hinderance..

Where is your Market Research on this..?

This is extremely crappy if there is no option to turn it off for the seller. If no option is integrated very soon, then this is the last straw.

Guess it's time to actually stop using Sedo. I've been putting it off because I'm lazy.

Turning it off could scare the buyer off as they may consider this as you have something to hide...

I dont think SEDO have thought this through much.. and I am suprised they launched without first testing the market

Wow, you are completely right. It completely screws over the seller who is selling a name without any stats. Because either you show some stats of 0 and the buyer might decide not to buy it, or you don't show your stats and the buyer assumes you are hiding something really bad.

Are you confusing Alexa rank with Incoming Alexa Links?

Jay said they're getting this data from URL Trends. They're pretty reputable and it looks ok to me. Check it out:

http://www.urltrends.com/viewtrend.php?url=http://www.domaintechnology.com

On whether its useful or not: I do more research than this gives me. Its realy the min. of what I look at but anyone who buys a domain for traffic is going to want to look up this stuff anyway so I guess its ok.

Its ok if you are a buyer and the information is correct.. but not great if you are a seller.

I am unsure as to how you can confuse Alexa Ranking with Incoming Links??

It States = Incoming Alexa Links: 92
However Alexa themselves states = No Data
http://www.alexa.com/data/details/?url=domaintechnology.com
Try for yourself..

Even Alexa Search Results only return 8 sites for the term "domaintechnology"

As for URLTrends.. what do you base there reputation on?

They have been around for less than a year and they have only registered there domain for a single year.
Regged in Dec 2004
Expires in Dec 2005

And with Google Adsense ads.. hmmmm ?

Just because a site looks reputable means nothing

I just did some looking, and one of the big problems is that they are only looking at stats for the domain with "www," on the front, so they are publishing FALSE information for almost all of my domains!! I have quite a few with PR2 and PR3, but Sedo's stats say PR0. They do NOT explain this on their stats page, it was a hunch on my park.

NOT GOOD. I want the false info removed from all domains on my account immediately; it devalues my names.
