A new USA Today article on domains is out today: http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/2006-04-13-hot-domain-names_x.htm

Briefer than I expected based on how many people the writer interviewed but that is USA Today's style. By the way, I will be on San Francisco radio station KGO at approx. 10:45 am Eastern time (35 minutes from now) to talk about the article.

Cool. Link to the radio show if you have time?

Here's the KGO am station link. Hope that's the one as I'm hooked up right now.

Next time they should just go to DNJournal - the sources quoted in the article were weak.

notwithstanding how weak this piece is, it still came out on the very FRONT PAGE of today's weekend (fri, sat, sun) 'usa today' print edition, which I believe is the biggest mainstream print exposure domains have received 2 date.

congrats duke!

Ireit have 400,000 domains, huh??? Didn't know that many good ones can possibly exist (especially considering that NA and BD also have 400k+ each) Wonder how many TM typos are there? :laser:

And what happened to that Cellphones domain (wasn't mentioned here)? Did it ever sold?

I just picked up a copy on the news stand. There are only three articles on the front page of USA Today. The editors have all of the news in the world to pick from for these three key spots that are critical to how many papers they sell. They've got politics, entertainment, the economy, sports, you name it - yet from all of the topics in the world they pick a story on the boom in the domain market. I was sure this would be buried somewhere inside. Can there be any doubt now that the rest of the world is finally catching on to this business and the value of domains?

The deal was apparently never completed. WhoIs has never changed.

FYI, BuyDomains.com called me today to discuss an offer I made and during the conversation they mentioned the fact they now own 600,000 domains.

Internet Reit, which owns more than 400,000 domain names, is financially backed by Starbucks Chairman Howard Schultz's venture firm ...
Had not heard this before, but is an obvious indication of interest from top down. I'm always curious to know what are the vesy best names in a 400,000 name portfolio. You can own 500 acres of swamp land or 1 acre downtown Manhattan.
