1) If a .com is already taken, what value does the equivalent .net have? I have, what I think, is a good name, but the .com is taken.

2) Is it pretty much assumed that one should only post here what they already have registered for fear that another member may steal the name?

3) Do the names of sports stars or future sports stars have value?

4) Is a name with numbers in it valueless? I have a name that starts with a number and seems pretty good.

5) I see a lot about .us. Is this really being pushed or something?

Thanks,
Bob

because if its say a really good name, worth a few $'s then chances are someone else will go off and reg it, it doesn't even need to be someone from this forum, does it? they could info friend or co worker to do it. If you told anyone here that say money.com was suddenly availible, i gaurantee you you would definitly lose it if you hadn't reg'd it b4 you posted. So if you feel the name is worth a lot of money then don't post until you've reg'd. As for posting interesting names that could hold value, trying to find out what others think of it, then thats really what this forum is about isn't? Personally i'd never steal someone else's names or ideas that they post here, at most i would maybe try to get somemore ideas. Posting unreg'd names is a good idea, i've reg'd lots and lots of really bad names, and posting here before i'd reg'd them would of saved me lots of money.

1) Helps marginally. If you have to go .net make sure it relates to a product/service in demand on the web.

2) Beware of the unregistered forum lurkers.

3) I wouldn't touch that. You are just begging for legal problems.

4) 99.9% of the time they are very low resale or nosale. Names such as B2B and P3P would be the exceptions. Best to use your time searching for names with no numbers.

5) Being pushed. Will probably take a few years to see if it takes off. If you buy them, you should develop them to give more visibility to the general public. Good names still available.

Yes alot of .US Names havent been registered that have value. I think .NET's are nice but most people do not and there value is significanly lower then the .COM. Be wary of possible copyright infringment cases. And I bet loads of people lurk the forums for potentional domains.
