If you register a name with GoDaddy how long do you have to wait until you can change the registration? I purchased a name that someone would like to buy from me. Do you have to wait 60 days or can you do it right away?

thanks,
Monie

You can transfer the name to the buyer's godaddy account anytime. If the buyer wants to transfer the name to a different registrar, it is 60 days from the last ownership change at Godaddy.

Godaddy's support is quite responsive. And their prices are cheap.

Monie,

The best thing to do after you sell a name is to use a “push transfer,” regardless of the registrar that the name is with.

A “push transfer” is simply a transfer from one account to another at a given registrar.

If the person who you are selling the name to does not have an account at the registrar where the name is at, simply tell him or her to create one.

After you complete the “push transfer” the buyer will be free to move the domain wherever he or she wants after the 60 days elapse.

Good luck.

Take care,

Kevin
