what does exact really mean

well, look it up

as an adjective, basically it means "in complete accordance with fact or standard"

so where are the facts and what is the standard?

when you see "XXXX number of exact searches", what questions should you be asking yourself?

how can any search result be exact, when domainers are querying the tool 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?

imo...

"EXACT" searches usually referred to Google "EXACT" search option (google keyword tool).

If you consider total Internet users, domainers are just few percent.
It will be less than one percent.
So, I think it's safe to say "almost" exact :D

Hi

the total amount of internet users, do not use the google keyword tool

the google tool is used primarily by webmasters, marketers and domainers

and imo, domainers use it more than any other group

as the general public have no reason to search keyword popularity, epc, ctr, etc

If I'm not mistaken, the "exact" results are based on the number of times that term is searched with the Google search engine, not with the Google keyword tool. Although domainers would probably google that term as well, like copper said, it would be a small fraction of total people who type the term into google, which I believe is what the keyword tool displays.
