Anyone buying the .nft extension?
Michael
Michael
Both are possible. Doesn't change anything if i'm not mistaken. Why the question?Did you buy the x extension via crypto bitcoin etc or $$$?
Definitely .com is the better way.No reason in particular...just curious about the .nft extension.
I'm trying to hand reg NFT domain names!!...and hence unsure as to use .com or .nft!!
What would make you think that? The idea they must be "good guys"?I don't think ICANN will approve of anything that is already in use and accepted, e.g., .eth.
I keep thinking about the one that failed miserably. I want to say it was Box.net (Box.com now) but can't quite remember... I know they came out with a lot of jazzy TLDs that you could get, but the caveat was that users had to install a toolbar that would essentially assist in rewriting hosts files. Toolbars were a hot thing (to trick people into installing) back in the day, but computer-savvy people never truly trusted them, for obvious reasons. They have tried Alternative Root extensions many times before. Never worked don't see it working now.
Likely won't be as it's trademarked, along with others. It would be a lengthy legal battle and might even involve government intervention. Way too messy...And secondly, I think there is a real risk a ".nft" extension may be approved by ICANN in the future
With free speech at the heart of discussion now with Section 230 being disputed for something that would give the government even more oversight, I don't think that blockchain is out of the question... It could definitely be a viable solution, especially with everyone getting the Big Tech boot.No ".nft" decentralized domain for me. Not now, not tomorrow. - Only my opinion.

The way I see it now, and how it might actually succeed, is ICANN being seen as a monopoly over domain names and the companies that are popular for being browsers will end up natively supporting them without an added extension. Opera is already doing this, so I think it's safe to assume people will follow.
Thanks for the link. I didn't know Unstoppable Domains trademarked their new extensions, but I'm not totally convinced this would stop some Icann extensions. Maybe it will, maybe it doesn't. The lower portion of the linked article seems to also believe there may be some conflicts coming.Likely won't be as it's trademarked, along with others. I have a couple ".x" unstoppable domains "domains", and if I want something in this space, I will use this "extension", because the risk of running into a conflict with an ICANN extension seems low (as it's only 1 letter). On top of this, it looks pretty good and is a little more recognizable.
Too much money... but it looks like it can 10x if you just wait for GoDaddy to come.I'll wait to apply to the next ICANN round.
