Hi everyone,

Is there anyone here who specializes in domain speculation of particular niche markets?

Do you think that niching domaining can be beneficial? I guess one benefit I can think of is establishing brand.

Anyone?

I only do it when new technologies/government plans etc are involved i try and scoop up as many that pertain to the topic as possible, problem is if it falls through quite a lot of domains are useless as in the social security reform that didnt even get out of congress i lost about 30 names on that, I regged as many as i could pertaining to medicare drug plan and that paid of well. presently i have quiete a few with us immigration reform depending on which plan they go with. I also have about 20 dealing with association health plans but that never got out of senate. still hope for them though. I feel you are better off doing it with future keywords than present keywords, problem is with present stough there are 10's of thousands if not millions of domainers thinking the same way.
good luck with whatever path you choose

That is not niche domaining, that is fad domaining - there is a huge difference.

I buy up 10-20 domains based on a theme, mostly new terms though because stuff thats been around for a while is mostly taken, maybe I misunderstood the question, I thought niche domaining was when you buy a bunch of names around one theme, is this niche domaining? bush just named a marine sanctuary off hawaiian islands the largest in the world. so i regged 20 names from the initials of the monument to hawaiiansanctuary, hawaiiansanctuarycruise and a mess others is that niche domaining if not could you fill me in so i dont make same mistake again, thanks

When I mentioned niche domaining, I was refering to domaining in a certain market. Examples... a domainer that concentrates on Finance Market domains, Health Industry, Real Estate, or Adult Industries.

So, my question remains, are there currently many domainers that subscribe to niche domaining?

For me, I treat them like my finances, I have a more balanced portfolio and don't focus on any specifics. I'm on a more limited budget, so rather then just put all my eggs in one basket, I now try to buy a few good ones in different areas, instead of registering a zillion variations of the same thing in hoping one of them will pan out.

In that case I dont niche domain, but i do buy in clusters depending on area i am researching at the time ,generally clusters of 5 to 15 domains around a paticular theme
I would think that type domaining would work for a person specialized in a field ie:pharmacists -drug names auto parts salesman- auto parts
doctor-diseases

Yes, I believe niche dominaing is a good idea. E.g. myself (and many others) specialise in short, 3 character domains. I find this helps me keep my finger on the pulse of as certain markets, and it is easier to grasp current market values etc. It also makes networking easier,as you build connections with others in the same niche, meaning you already may know several buyers who could be interested when buying your domains. This is my experience with 3 character domains, although I am sure it stands true for most markets.
hope this helps

I have a lot of niche domains in one area. My idea is to be a major player in a specific market and then build a brand. I've had peole and businesses wanting to buy specific names instead of the whole lot, however. If they want to build a brand they should buy the niche and not just cherry pick. A name that is hot today may be replaced by another tomorrow. By owning a good chuck of the niche you cover the bases better.

Main niche has always been adult, its the money maker.. although the non adult portfolio would be worth more if sold.

This is what my main goal is moving forward. My main reason for wanting to do this is because I believe it will help me focus. If I pick a niche market and concentrate on it, I should be able to build a better portfolio. I don't want a bunch of adsensey-hypeney names to be the majority of what I own.

LOL, except the sale price was like $100, not the $xxx, xxx price he claimed.

Anyways, I started out doing 100% automotive sites/domains but I have branched out over the past year or two.
