Hey all,
I noticed an interesting thread over at NP (in their Dot US board) about how there's been some WEIRD activity in the NNN.us market. Mainly that some guy from Switzerland (Ives Leutenegger) who owns/owned 225 NNN.us domains seems to have let them all drop - there's loads of NNN.us names up on TDNAM right now as expired name auctions.
Just take a look at TDNAM now, I think that all 225 of this guy's collection are up for auction?
This will probably dilute the NNN.us market for a while to come?
Please let me know your thoughts on this!
EDIT: After thinking about this event with another member via PM, I/we have a few thoughts/points of interest. The following is a shortened/modified version of parts of our convo![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)

EDIT: After thinking about this event with another member via PM, I/we have a few thoughts/points of interest. The following is a shortened/modified version of parts of our convo
Consider the consequences if you alert someone with a large fund who then proceeds to outbid everyone. This may be worse than market saturation, because it once again prevents these names being in the public domain. Admittedly it will raise prices for those who already own nnn.us domains, but it will have a negative impact on those trying to get in on the NNN bandwagon?
I understand what you mean there - and I agree that someone with a large fund could potentially foul things up. However the previous owner of these 225 NNN.us names had pretty much held the market back (by keeping back 25% of the available NNN.us numbers)... I'm thinking that this could be a good thing, as the market may become more active.
My understanding on this situation is that the more exposure this gets, the less people will bid on the names (in the worry that the market will become flooded). Heck, because the supply of NNN.us names has risen, I'd imagine that the price will fall over the next week or two.
As an additional thought, because the prices should theoretically fall, this may discourage anyone with a lot of funds ($20k+ needed to buy all these names @ $100 ea) from bidding - hence this should promote activity in the market within a couple/few months.
Perhaps you should update your thread with some of the content of this conversation. After reading this convo I have started to appreciate the many good points you bring up. It is rather dependant as to how people interpret this situation as to what happens. Essentially this post could discourage people from bidding as you mentioned, which could be a good thing.
