Hey guys,

Im not sure what exactly my intentions are with this post... essentially to get general reactions to the following...

I owned 77 CCC.net. I invested in them in 2005/6 buying them for around the $10-15 mark each if I remember right.

2-3 years renewal makes my total investment around $30 for each.
Essentially by my calculations I have invested bet $1,300 and $2,300 in these.. BIG Mistake.

Anyhow I was fed up of them, they were not growing in value so I thought what the heck Ill put them on ebay and see what I can get back..
Havnt added it up accurately but I'd say the max I got in TOTAL was $200.. most sold for $0.99cents.

So basically I have lost closer to the $2k mark on this one bad investment.

Now I will learn from my investment in shit like these, and LLLL.com. I really have learned the hard way with these BUT I basically just want to get the reactions of others to my losses..

Thanks
T

Everyone make mistakes the only thing important is learn from mistakes.
Look at the future :)

Next time don't heard what domainers said (like for the LLLL.com hype) but use your mind and don't listen your competitors.

Good luck.

Sounds like with what I'm about to go though with 23 NNNNN.com domains (but at a lot less money).

It is hard, but it is a lesson that needs to be learned by all of us. :(

Thanks for the views.
Would the general consensus be that maybe I have lost out financially (in a big way) but I will learn from it, and it will influence future investments in such away that I can potentially recover my losses later on down the investment trail?

HI

.net is 3-5 years behind .com I also had around 50-100 ccc.net and I started at the same time as you but I saw them not growing so I got out much earlier then you I think I broke even or may have lost some... but I do think if I had renewed them all for another 5 year, and if you did to ... you would see a profit...

i think they have dropped a lot because of the global market too.

I also saw LLL.net in 2004 sell for $200 and now they are $800-$1000 each...

I think the people that bought them from you will profits..

I sold 4 hot CCC.com back in 07 for $180 each and now I could get $300-$400 so does that mean we should stick to .com only....

Just my 2 cent

I have something like 350 nnnnn.coms that I have renewed for one or two years each.

That works out at around $6000 invested. I'm still hoping that I can make some profit on those though, even if it isn't the killing I had hoped for.

I also had around 350 nnnn.coms (around $10,000 invested, but made an excellent short-term profit on those.)

As long as overall your portfolio makes a decent profit, and you learn from your experiences, I think it is ok.

That's about 15 minutes for me a the blackjack tables in Vegas. Actually, lost about 2.5 K in that time frame. GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ! Sick sick feeling!

But won it back on the way home on the River Boats in St Louis. I actually said "I quit" and walked out breaking even on the trip.

Thanks for the posts... as if to rub it in, I just saw someone who bought 4 ccc.net from me sell them for $5 each in about 6 hours.

Turns out ebay is even worse than I thought :( It has charged me stupid fees, and cost me 5 times as much as it should have.

Oh well. Ill learn.

You need to know what to sell on ebay and how to list it to make a profit...

all my ebay auctions I have made a profit...

Plus I got a new customer...

Selling domains on eBay is all about Trends. At times, LLLL.com's are hot and you need to sell when they are. CCC's are hot at times and so on. I always watch "What Sold" recently and you can normally see the trends.

As for the CCC.net investment, it was not the worst but I think the mistake was Where you sold and When.

Another reason why one needs to incorporate; a loss is deducted from profit as such.

It sucks, but you can't win every time. Just think of how low the loss percentage is with domaining compared to stocks, real estate and other markets. It's hard right now, but by the time you make your next big sale, it's forgotten. :)

I've lost more, and yes, it can really be painful. But take it in the stride and you'll do well
