I've decided to actively seek buyers for Official.com.

I purchased official.com back in '99 for $40k, which was planned for a large movie review site. Investors were being finalized in 2001, but later backed out due to poor economic conditions. Needless to say, my plans to continue with development were cancelled, and the name has been a minor traffic river for Ranks.com (an old project of ours).

I'm probably looking to get in the ballpark of $30k - 40k for the name. It would be nice to get more, and turn a small profit for it, but I've been in this business for a while, and know how difficult finding such a buyer would be. If I could get a lead or two, I'd be more than happy. I e-mailed Afternic to try and get listed as a showcase domain, but never heard back.

Some stats regarding the domain:

Hits Per Day: Approx 100 (source, MasterStats.com)
Overture Searches: 1911 (June, official) & 97 (June, official.com)

This name is probably worth more due to the name, and not the amount of traffic it produces. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions, other than eBay and Afternic. I haven't actively sought out buyers for a large domain, since the sale Mad.com (eBay). I appreciate any tips.

Great name to enter the fray with. It's too bad you didn't hear back from Afternic. Seems they are very busy these days since the takeover.

You may also want to try www.Sedo.us. They are similar to Afternic and quite frankly, I've had significantly more activity and offers from there than I've had from Afternic, even though it's the same listings and comparable pricing.

Pretty unimpressive from Afternic considering the low quality names they have in their "showcase".
