I haven't seen anything posted on DNF yet so I will post it here. A fellow owns oneuglydomain.net and is going to try to trade it up until he gets a million dollar domain. Like the guy who traded a paper clip into a house. Already started at oneuglydomain.com

I think that first trade is going to be tough enough.

Agreed but if it takes off like the paper clip episode - having the first name might bring lots of traffic if the media gets ahold of it!

This idea has already attracted traffic to his daily blog website. That will only increase if the media takes an interest. Domainers are getting into the spirit as well, offering some good advice. The domain period has also been reduced so the process will be much quicker now. If you are interested, go to the site and offer a domain name. What do you have to lose really, as at the very least the domain you offer will be on the front page of his website for a month or so. One more interesting site to check every day to see what has been offered. Plus, the general public gets to vote on the choice of trades.

The fact that this is even news worthy just show how desperate the ASCII domain market is becoming for those that were too late to pick up quality domains.

The remote town in Canada wanted some publicity, new business and had junk land and a house sitting on it which no one wanted.

No one is going to give away a domain worth a million.

Domaining is a tough business dude. Involve media or not....

Oh please Rubber, tell us all about the quality idn.com's you've picked up. Then, please insult us all for being idiots and not buying the idn.com's that you're selling...

In your case, I am sure the members are capable of making their own deductions.

I believe that he has changed the rules a little as he now rejects domain names that he doesn't feel are an "upward or sideways" trade. I think he overvalues the domain name "releaseparty" which he presently owns but as domains are totally subjective for the most part, who knows. With a lot of branding etc. it could be an excellent domain but so could almost any domain name.

I think his decision to evaluate the domains instead of just posting them is going to spell the end of this project as their will be little interest going forward. JMHO though.
