One of my domains has been registered since 2003... but only recently have I put a website on it.

Is there anything wrong with saying "Online since 2003" or "Since 2003", "Established 2003", etc.?

Technically it has been around since 2003, so you could put 'Online Since 2003'. But why would you need to do that in the first place? If it's good content, or a good service - people will visit.

Oh, naturally. However, the site is real estate related, and this is a business where establishment goes a long way :)

It is not truthful even though it looks and reads good.

A vague statement of "Since 2003" is perhaps better as it a blanket statement - covers your claim. It is factual but not specific. Just don't try to push the concept that the site has been there since 2003.

Sites can be archived and accessed. So leave the particulars alone.

I saw a commercial for a website the other day claiming they've been online since 1979. I don't think misrepresenting a start is anything new or uncommon but people who know how to do an archive history may call you out.

Must be a typo of 1997, unless BBS or Arpanet counts as online presence ;)

LOL!

grcorp, I think "Established 2003" would be misleading obviously to the visitor and if someone ever happened to do research for whatever reason on your business or domain, it wouldn't look right. Better safe than sorry, imo.

I probably wouldn't include this.

I think, as other members are mentioning, it will make your company/website look worse when you make a claim that isn't 100% accurate.

The fact you are asking that question means deep down . . . you know the answer.
