I was very surprised that the thread concerning a member who waited months to pay $50.00 to another member was closed. I think this is a VERY important topic!

I transact a lot of money through DNForum (as many of us do), and I want to know the people I sell to and buy from are completely aboveboard.

So.... I am posting this to continue the discussion. Should desdbeats be publically outted?

The other stiuation was concluded by the alleged deadbeat getting off scott-free, without being identified, so he/she is still out there! He apparently paid the $50.0 after months, and issued an "apology" for the "misunderstanding".

Now, maybe it WAS a misunderstanding, and maybe he had a really good reason for not paying, but ignoring multiple PM's and emails requesting payment? That's quite a misunderstanding.

If someone is having trouble paying for domains they buy, I'd like to know that BEFORE I sell them anything else.

Any other thoughts on this?

Reason for Thread being Closed: Closed, as per request of thread starter.

In the circumstances I do not feel that it is a good idea to re-open this issue - why did the thread starter withdraw the thread?
Presumably because the issue was resolved - and it was closed by a mod!

It's not about opening that (particular) thread/issue, but, in WebCat's words, "to continue the discussion" (about the matter in general).

I vote No ..not on just one single event.
We have no idea exactly what the truth is...we can speculate but may bebetter off by giving him the benefit of the doubt

but when it happens again the pattern has begun..then it's time to heave ho..

I mean I am awaiting a Avatar project ..I am not sure if the person is really working on it or just giving me the run around ?!

I am sure he is not really a deadbeat avatar creator because I have see his work before for others on DNF .. so I am giving him thre benefit of the doubt..but if I see someone else compalining..well the out the door he goes :-D LOL ..

Sometimes avatar creators ARE running around.......in circles! They look at those $350.00 to $12,000.00 projects on the desk, and all the while that $10.00 avatar keeps crying out, "Animate me! Animate me!"

It's a hellish existance, but somebody has to live it!

Trust me on this, I happen to KNOW some avatar creators! They are ALL 100% trustworthy, dependable, intelligent, creative, handsome, and ESPECIALLY........, very humble!

And you can take that to the bank!

Exactly Webcat.. and sometimes others here run into problems , to busy, health, family, and other issues.. my point is simply not not rush to outing "deadbeats" until we know they are deadbeats and not someoone just overloaded with work , on vacation , have a death in the family are inthe hospital etc... or are to busy finalizing that $350.00 to $12,000.00 domain aand all the while the $50 transaction keeps crying..pay me pay me

I do agree we need to watch out and share with everyone on deadbeats..I just think we need to see a pattern of deadbeatactivity and not just a 1 time "issue" ...thats all

BTW..$10 avatar.. very happy.. very patient..

I totally agree! I was the one in the previous thread urging caution, and being 100% sure the facts were correct BEFORE coming out with any specific deadbeat allegations. We are talking about someone's reputation.

Let's say you had actually PAID some trustworthy, dependable, intelligent, creative, handsome, and humble avatar creator to create you an amazing, custom animated avatar, then 6 MONTHS went by, and still you did not have your amazing, custom animated avatar, THEN you would certainly have a right to question that avatar creator!

According to my very limited understanding of contract law, it's different when no value has passed between two parties.
