The new weekly domain sales report is out at DNJournal.com. The new report actually covers two weeks since I was away covering the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. ccTLDs conference in Amsterdam last week (our comprehensive show review article will be published this weekend). The new all-extension leader board boasts two 7-figure sales, the fourth and fifth ones to break the million dollar barrier in 2009.

To make room for the extra data in this report we expanded our usual Top 20 charts to 30 positions. .Coms took 19 of those but country codes continued to show a lot of muscle, taking seven spots on the all extension leader board. The non .com global TLDs earned four places, and two of those sales ranked among the year’s ten biggest sales in this category. You can get all of the details here:

03c.com for 23K ?!? Uh... ok. Just goes to show you that you never know when that crappy name you're holding will pay off big. But, I'll be darned if I would have the balls to ask for 23K on that domain.

Could not understand why DVDshrink.com sold over 43,000.

Easy - most DVDs (movies) are "dual layer" (9.4GB?) and don't fit on a regular DVD if you want to copy it so you need a program to "shrink" the DVD files (usually screen resolution) to fit on a regular 4.7GB DVD.

The same for BluRay.

My question is who bought it? Nero? Creative Labs? SlySoft?

I'm thinking a domainer unless this is something Moniker does until it is all said and done?

"The business day closed with Dr. Ham's keynote address ..."

Did he speak about typosquatting? Ron, do you need some more tissues?
