Just logged in and got a notice that my password had expired! F*cking nuisance!

OK, so I entered my old password as my new password...wouldn't allow it! F*cking nusiance!

So I had to enter a new password which I will never remember.

This site does a very good job of pissing off customers. Anyone fancy some betting action as to whether I renew my subscription?

(If it's not spam or lack of support, it's messing with my password)

It's a feature that was added to protect member accounts. Before this there was accounts that were being hijacked to sell stolen domains.

no site i ever used which asks to update password, has ever allowed you to enter the old password as the new one.

and i'm not just talking about domain forums and such.

yeah, it may be a nuisance, but it's a protective measure for your benefit.

That means that the passphrase is stored not hashed, THATS a big security breach!

Don't think so, the script just has to make a hash of your new password and compare it against the hash of your current password.
If they match, you didn't choose a different password.
