Before i used to justify having multiple vbulletin licenses for being a pretty search engine friendly upto date forum software, now with many other forum software at much cheaper price or free with the likes of mybb what advantages does vbulletin really have? I mean they are incapable of even adding the most basic of build it mods within the admin control panel like advertisement on the forums and user friendly interface to charge members for memberships! Its fine if you have 1 forum and add hundreds of mods to it, when you have 15+ forums and have to install 20+ hacks on each forum it becomes a real pain in the ass and to think you pay for the forum software that isn't even capable of having many of these basic hacks pre coded.
I'll be looking forward to the day a serious competitor comes up and kicks vbulletin where it hurts so they become more customer focused than how much they can squeeze per customer. I find im spending a day per forum installation just to modify forums with really basic hacks i would expect forum which i paid $160 (i actually pay about $100 per owned license due to my high purchase rate but $160 is the market value!) for to come with. Sure vbulletin has the subscription payment option but its a pain in the ass because its really not newbie user friendly. If you want to have mod rewrite you really have 2 choices, zoints which isn't very good imo or vbseo which you have to spend more money on, i dont understand where all the money vbulletin users are paying is going, if vbulletin is incapable of releasing a new version with a mod rewrite pre built with many basic functions such as ability to add banners / adsense links to the forum, how do they justify the price they charge on a yearly basis and constantly release a new version which i personally see very little difference in month after month.
Vbulletin relies too heavily on good will programmers of vbulletin.org to make good mods for us users, its like microsoft making MS Office, forcing you to pay for it and let others code updates for them for free, they make the money at the end of the day for very minimal work :upset:
