There is hope. Steve Jobs had it in 2003 and last I heard he was worth 100 billion kbillion or so? Ironically, just today I read that story http://www.news.com/8301-13579_3-9886077-37.html?tag=nefd.pop, and just today I was diagnosed with pilonidal some bullshit or another. **** that... I'm in Italy and am gonna see a US doc asap. Though some symptoms are right, most are NOT this pilonidal deal.

Anyhow, HOUSTON BOY! 77090, from Narfside....

Gary Gygax, Patrick Swazey, who will be #3?

Pancreatic cancer is horrible and almost never treatable. My wife lost her uncle from that a few years ago.

bad news.
i really like the guy. to be fair he has lived life to full tho, not that its any consolation to his family.

all is not lost, 2 words,......... Lance Armstrong.

strikes me Crazy Swayze is made of the same stern stuff, so don't write him off yet

Lance Armstrong had testicular cancer - easily treatable if caught early.

Patrick Swazey has Pancreatic cancer - very rarely is it treatable (Steve Jobs had it and was cured, he's about it). Hopefully he does get it cured.

Yep, life is terminal for sure. You'd better be able to admit that when the time comes, and you better have a back up plan. I'd rather die on my feet, then pursuing a lost cause in a hospital bead hopped up on morphine. Just witnessed that, not good.

His doctor sounds more optimistic than you guys...sheesh

Just got this prevention info from wiki:

  • Cigarette smoking is considered to be the most significant and avoidable risk factor for pancreatic cancer.
  • Maintaining a healthy weight and exercising may be helpful.
  • increasing consumption of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains while decreasing red meat intake.
  • taking Vitamin D can substantially cut the risk of pancreatic cancer (as well as other cancers) by up to 50%.

hopefully he beats the cancer.

I've never seen the whole dirty dancing movie, just parts on tv. And I was a teenager in the 80's.

I actually met Patrick Swayze years ago here in LA. Nice guy in person. Am deeply saddened by the news, but equally hopeful. From what I understand, there is currently a 1/4 - 1/3 survival rate. The best thing we can do is pray for him now.
