I saw on CNBC today where the (CEO)? (of paypal and ebay) said that he was opening up their 'proprietary paypal' to the whole world to develop apps - so that ANYONE - EVERYONE can now develop paypal apps just like the iphone opened up their proprietary info to invite the World to create apps and they have developed many tens of thousands of different iphone apps as he said.

Sorry for non specifics, I just caught a little on CNBC while conducting my own business. My thoughts were, are DNs like PaypalApps.com - now not being considered trademarked since they are now encouraged to be created by EVERYONE else?

Here is the link: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/11/03/BU971AEPFI.DTL

I saw that all of the iphone tlds were taken.

I do not know the legal ramifications on DNs like paypalapps.com if the company now encourages the world to use their 'open architecture' to create their own prorpietary 'paypal apps' with it.

Some of the iphoneapps.tlds have Websites on them.

?

Just before I wrote this thread, I saw that paypalapplications.net and .org were still available - does this mean that they are now worth more than just reg fees?

Anyone out there with a good Hello on this?

Thanks

seems cool, but at the same time, so very risky considering how many people are going to try and take advantage of this situation for their own benefit if you know what I mean... stealing pw's, accounts, etc.
