I sent a payment the other day via Paypal on my friends computer and Paypal, in less than 60 seconds, rang me on my cell and made sure it was me sending the payment.

I was very impressed and didn't even know they did things like this, sorry if this is way old news and it happens all the time.

Anyone else had this? is it a common occurence?

Keep it up Paypal :eek:k:

I do a tremendous amount of business from two different PayPal accounts. Often times, numerous purchases in a day.

Over the past month or so, I have been getting calls about every other day. Sometimes, more than once a day as multiple purchases are made.

I too am impressed. I am impressed that they are taking a proactive role to help in fraud prevention and have been very courteous. I always thank them. Typically I do not answer the phone as I have caller ID for screening the non-important BS. But when it is them, I always answer. Otherwise, they will be persistent in their attempts. And yes, one time it was within seconds of making a purchase.

Bravo, PayPal.

They called me once when I sent funds to a brand new user, just to verify that everything was correct. I appreciated it, as it showed they are keeping an eye on things.

It would be nice if they expanded their Security Key to Canada:

They read the subject of the outgoing mails... be careful not to write something that they don't like: currency exchange, gambling etc

I never get calls from Paypal. But my CC companies do :D That's safer than Paypal.

They won't stop calling me to verify charges on my paypal debit card (which I use constantly so I get free cash back) and they drive me frickin crazy, then if you don't call them back sometimes to say "yes I used it" they limit your debit card until they finally speak to you which is a real pain in the ass, I actually was buying something for like 2k the other day and it would'nt go thru even though I had plenty in my account and it made me look like some bum, lol....I love them and I can appreciate their concern with new accounts or less frequently used accounts, but how many times in a row can you call the same person about gas station & walmart charges...lol

security key is very cool (I've been using it for couple of months) but sometimes it's a pain in the ass as I forget where I put my keys :upset:

My credit card companies usually just reject the charge, freeze my account, and wait for me to contact them, which pisses me off.

Paypal is usually good about refunding money for services not rendered, ebay orders not received, and things of that nature. However, due to this, i've also heard of people being ripped off because they were paid through paypal.

One such story went something like this:
- Guy1 buys something on ebay from guy2
- Guy1 pays guy2 via paypal
- Guy1 receives item
- Guy1 submits complaint to paypal that item was not as advertised
- Paypal tells guy1 to ship the item back and provide them with a tracking number
- Paypal immediately refunds guy1 and screws guy2
- Guy2 receives an empty package from guy1
- Guy2 complains to paypal, and paypal tells them to contact the police, who usually don't care unless you're dealing with hundreds of thousands of dollars

I don't know if its entirely true, but there is always a flip side
