Pepper is such a serious cookie!

This is Athena from the litter of puppies we had last year - she fits the name well (the goddess of war) as well as her new name, Pepper (she so spicy).

Oh, yeah...dog bites.

My most recent was this past Sunday evening. One in the left wrist and one in the left thigh. No skin broken but the thigh has one huge nasty bruise.

I need to quit volunteering my help being the decoy.

Don't worry, that picture was just from schtuzhund practice. She's a sweetheart - unless you have bad intentions, then watch out.

Notice her ears are up and forward - this shows NO hesitation whatsoever and a lot of confidence. Many dogs have their ears back at this time meaning they're a little reserved - even police K9s do that.

This is the kind of confidence that would make her not hesitate if her family needed protection.

She's an awesome dog (and Artemis is, too, we haven't heard much from Apollo's owners though).

I thought Athena was supposed to be about wisdom?

She has the wisdom to know a threat - and how to act on it.
