No one appraised it [BitcoinMarket.com] yet because 1) I am 3 years ahead of the rest of the domainer's community registering and buying Bitcoin names; and 2) they know it's such a great name they prefer to send me PMs asking for a quote.

Well here's an appraisal... It's not worth $xxx, xxx. Drop 3 figures and maybe you'll make a sale.

Just in case anyone is interested in the entire private conversation:

"The domain is less than 1 year old" - Yes, someone was dumb enough to let it drop last year and I got it in an auction. I paid dearly for it.

"Receives no type-in traffic" - Excuse me?? It receives so much type-in traffic that the LocalBitcoins.com staff (where it's redirecting to) was intrigued to know the traffic source.

"and has only 6,600 monthly searches..." - It's irrelevant in the present case.

"This is why no one has appraised your domain. " - No one appraised it yet because 1) I am 3 years ahead of the rest of the domainer's community registering and buying Bitcoin names; and 2) they know it's such a great name they prefer to send me PMs asking for a quote.

Ditch the name soon for whatever you can get, bro. I hope you can get a decent price with an end user. With all the moves against this currency by the Feds, etc lately ppl may not wanna touch Bitcoin domains with the proverbial 10-foot pole. At least as far as the US is concerned

;)

The 'death of Bitcoin' has been announced many times since 2010, and every time it resurfaced stronger. It will be no different now, and all the nay sayers/skeptics will have to eat their tongue and shut up for another while. What we do have right now is a great buying opportunity.

And regarding Bitcoin domain sales, they've been happening just fine, at least for me.

I researched the metrics on this name a bit, it likely has light type-in traffic which is better than none, I'd say right now as it sits the name is realistically worth around 10k give or take

The appraisal of this name is as varied as the swings in the real bit coin market, which appears to be falling.

A name like this needs to be created in to a site to have its full worth realized.

I see that it's taken in multiple extensions but only the .net seems to be lightly developed.
The domain is good but there may be alternatives on the market.
There have been a few bitcoin domains sold over the last two years, but I seem to remember that many were in the form bitcoin.cctld... Shorter domains.
I don't think this one is worthless but it's probably worth less than you think. Now that is an accurate appraisal ah :)

Try to broker it. I recommend using igloo.com in this case.

It can fetch mid/high $xx,xxx and no, I am not vested in BTC.

mostly type-in?
what is the other traffic from?

and if I see another abcblahblah.com sold for a million and my domain is abc-blah.info so it must be worth a few hundred thousand, i'm gonna puke.

I'd say its worth a few hundred, i could be wrong and you may sell for a few thousand. personally I wouldn't have even registered it.

18.4 daily visitors on average, mostly type-in.

BitcoinMarket.com used to be an early Bitcoin exchange until 2011, so there's some expired link traffic.

I don't see your point in comparing xxx.com and xxx.info since this is clearly not the case here, not to mention I never claimed my domain was worth any particular amount.

Finally, if you say you wouldn't even hand-register BitcoinMarket.com if you had a chance, this speaks volumes about your understanding of the implications of Bitcoin as a world-changing technology, as well as about the quality of your appraisal.

You valued your domain at $300,000.

I provided a private quote for you, which is way different than coming to an appraisal thread and claiming it's worth that amount. Please show me where I publicly claimed it was worth $300,000 and the domain is yours, free of charge.

Providing a quote is a self-appraisal. End of story.
