I'm considering starting a forum for my poker domain www.ThePokerPad.com.

Interested to know what the best free forum software is for a beginner.

SMF has a lot of plugins that are easy to install and they've gotten better with their permissions.

Plus the basic package also allows for paid membership / membership levels.

If you are going to be targeting people in the UK and other countries, great, but a huge portion of online poker players are gone and they are the majority who would be on such a site. I have also noticed online poker sites have huge competition and are very hard to start. Just a few things to be aware of before you start developing and/or spending more money on this domain.

I really prefer vBulletin. Just too many great options. worth the price.
