I don't get this, can anyone explain:

I was the high bidder on Nicejobs.com until 15 minutes ago. My bid of $110 was ousted by other bids.
But why is user 36333 bidding against himself???

36333 $605.00 2003-10-20 16:15:04
36333 $302.00 2003-10-20 16:14:19
36330 $230.00 2003-10-20 16:15:45
36330 $200.00 2003-10-20 16:14:57
36330 $160.00 2003-10-20 16:14:47
36330 $140.00 2003-10-20 16:14:36
36330 $120.00 2003-10-20 16:13:45
ME $110.00 2003-10-17 19:44:47
36330 $100.00 2003-10-17 19:41:45
ME $90.00 2003-10-17 19:44:39
ME $70.00 2003-10-17 19:38:00
36330 $60.00 2003-10-17 18:15:49

Can anyone explain?

Thanks

He's not bidding against himself, he is upping his proxy bid in case 36330 decides to bid over $302 in the last few seconds of the auction.

so even if no one else bids, I have to pay the proxy bid amount, even though I won the domain at $302.00 ?

It looks like the winning bid should have been $240 and won by 36333.

36333 bid $302 at 16:14:19 and then less than a minute later, 36333 decided to up their proxy bid to $605 (probably upped as 36330 was bidding in small increments and 36333 decided they did not want to lose the name).

Remember, Pool is NO different than eBay except that Pool actually SHOWS the highest bidder's proxy bid at the conclusion of the auction. This way you know how much they were willing to pay.

ah, ok...
thanks.

that explains why they seem to have so many nice domain names at outrageously high prices..
How that company survives is a mystery.

No one said they are profitable.

Oh they are! Where do you think they get all of the money to pay these high prices?
