I was just checking something in my Pool account and noticed they have added .BIZ to the extensions they catch! I don't think those even start expiring until November - but they do have 16 names pending delete in tomorrow's list. Probably pulled back by the registry for some reason.

I wonder why they added .BIZ before .INFO. .BIZ should start expiring en masse in November, but the initial 2 year regs in .INFO will start expiring sooner - in September. .Infos have also been getting deleted for some time now where registrants have gone afoul of the registry for one reason or another (which I would guess is also the reason they have some Biz's to offer now).

In any case, expiring new extensions will certainly add some fun to the game for those who like them (and especially for those of us who missed the land rushes in biz, info and us).

One stop shopping.

But, are their enough quality BIZ names to justify the bidding on the names?

I could see

sex.biz
look.biz
shop.biz
ABC.biz (tm problem)

But, is it worth $ 60. ++++ for

chicken.biz
mykids.biz

(all just made up names)

Or, are they trying to shake the last few nickels out of my pocket?

One other related BIZ note. I had lunch today with an old friend from the TV business and was telling him about my involvement with domains. He didn't know about anything but Com Net and Org. I told him there were 3 new choices - Info, Biz and US. He said ".BIZ? That really sounds cheesy!" I had to laugh. Where have I heard that before (aside from my own lips and a few hundred others around here)? I don't hate it as much as I used to though (even own a few now). However it would have to be a pretty good .biz for me to pay Pool $60 for one. $6 has been more my speed. :-D

I saw nothing good dropping in the days pool covered.

Today tweety.biz was ok, i guess.

of the 3 new choices, .biz is my fave.

act,

there are .biz names I would pay $60 for.

None are currently in pools drop search that I would pay $10 for.

I've bot several .biz names over $1k each. Also, one of the largest holders of domains has told me that they have more success for the .biz names than they do on the info and us names. I was surprised. Depends on the keyword importance to the end-user of course. Depending on the efforts in the landrushs, these names cost me about $70 each on average including pre-reg fees etc. not including all the time and effort it took to cover 50 or so registrars for the same lists.

When seen in the B2C context, .BIZ sucks. But when you are a brick-and-mortar company servicing B2B clients, it starts making serious sense.

Strictly speaking, you can't just buy just to sell .BIZ domains in the aftermarket. Since Neulevel has stoppred clamping down resellers of .BIZ in the past year or so, people are starting to promote their .BIZ names for sale a lot more openly. Neulevel may close an eye, but some company wanting to reverse-cyberjack your name could use this regulation as a legitimised bad faith against you.

That Budget.biz name would have been worth a fortune to a particular rental car company wanting to brand it's Business Rental division.

I totally disagree...

www.protection.biz & www.anywhere.biz will not be B2b sites. I defy anyone to say that .biz sucks for these names.

...or even behind.biz, a name I bought from Android the other day. Will make a nice "Behind the biz" cnn-ish site don't ya think?
