is pool.com bidding absolute (like enom) what you bid become your maximim and the bid goes right there, right away.... or like ebay/namewinner, only raised when a competing bid pushed your number up.

by the way, pool is beating NW and enom now on high dollar names ($500plus) anyone else seeing the same?

Pool is crushing everyone, which is bad for the mid to small sized domainers

To answer your question, Pool utilizes a proxy-style bidding system like eBay and Namewinner.

I had an order at Pool, when does Pool let you know one way or the other...

They only let you know that you won it or that it is on auction.
They never tell you you lost it.

If it was in today's drop and they haven't informed you yet for an auction then they didn't get it.

If pool catches a name that you have backordered, I find the system updates within MINUTES of them acquiring the name. So you should know by about 3:00 PM at the LATEST for com/net drops and by 11:15 am for org drops.

If nobody else bid, then you will see "1 Domain awaiting payment" at the top of the screen. If somebody else backordered it, you will see "(1) Domain in Auction".

Best business model.

Always bid price will be rise upper than fair price for end user in current market. (Class A, Class B+, and traffic domains).

This article about BuyDomains was originally posted at http://www.usforum.us by Duke (to give due credit!). It is sort of discouraging in that BD admits to bidding up names at Pool and NW not in hopes of making money on them but to encourage competitors to give up and leave the business. You won't hate everything about the guy who owns BD, Michael Mann, but you will realize that he is a ruthless competitor with millions and millions available. It is the front page article this month at http://www.dnjournal.com/ .

I know that where I've checked, BD and the Caymen Islands people have bought many of the names that I was interested in at Pool.

As an idea, we could post the auction results for auctions that we were involved with here at DNforum. Just a though if anyone is interested.
