I was 'in' for these domains at 'pool'. Here are the final results:

Microphone.NET $526
AntiqueMall.NET $289

Geez, can we 'pretend' that our names expired and let Pool 'grab' them and auction them off for us?? I got AntiqueMalls.NET by manually registering it last year! Anyone want it for say, $200??! Mind you, I like it but... I also have Microphone.INFO. Maybe they'd get $400 for it?? Decent domains but what would I get if I lsited them here or on ebay?? When will I find a happy buyer for them? They aren't .COMs and to me, .NET is right in there with .BIZ and .INFO or darned close anyway. It's the international extension that says something close to nothing.

Happy bidding!!

I have been thinking along the same lines in recent days. Maybe Namewinner and Pool will eventually expand their business model to put in an auction section of domains submitted by sellers. They obviously are attracting lots of buyers with more money than sense (just the kind of people we need to locate!) :)

I'M thinking about this since 1 year and maybe more, I also contacted NW about this, the point is that am sure 100% that if the names are not expired names even if are much better peoples will bid not even 1/10 of the amount they use to bid for expired names.

Unfortunately I think you are right Mike. For some reason there is that "psychology" in place that if a name is expiring it must somehow be more valuable (even though most of the names we all have were picked from previous drops). It's a very strange thing to watch.

agree. very strange how people seem willing to pay significantly more for domains that are dropping. some of my domains, like locust.com, cristy.com, highsecurity.com, and others would likely fetch thousands on NW. don't see people offering these amounts to me now.

also, any more final bids from POOL would be useful if people can post. sounds like they are as insane there as NW.

interesting to compare.

I'm surprised you guys still haven't spotted the trick and treat in the bidding proposition.

I can't say anymore.

Yes, very strange to watch happening every day. Most all the NW bids are hard to believe, such as llew mentioning these: exceptionalhomes.com - $2,049.00 fantasytravel.com - $4,100.00 etc.

It's amazing how buyers think an expiring name is more valuable. Common sense would tell you the opposite is really so vs a reg'd one or listed for sale, which the owner does not want to let expire.

From viewing all the prices it seems the expired names sell for from 5 to 10 times (or more) of value. Why can't that happen on our names and websites for sale?

I wonder if NW listed non-expired names for bidding if they would also attract such incredibly high bids? Likely not, as that does not happen at Afternic and elsewhere for some odd reason. Anyone else have thoughts on this anomaly?

Some things cannot be said publicly. The current drop name game has peaked in maturity in terms of loadedness and manipulation. It's time to clean the soot and grime up with WLS.

Agreed. If you think shill bidding is bad, the backroom antics taking place in the drop game would shock you :)

If you have access to a Whowas database on certain names, take a look.
