I use oxeo for webhosting, they offer 100% uptime and have come through on their promise so far. They offer pop3 access. I know you dont need hosting but its kinda hard to just get pop.

You could also use everyone.net since they offer email, you could get the cheap package for like $9 a month there.

I use 5dollarhosting.com. I get a website (which obviously you do not have to use) and up to 99 email accounts for $60/yr. Great tech support. High reliability. Actually, I have 4 hosting accounts with them.

The email is very easy to set-up (all kinds of forwarding options) and you can use web access to your email when you are travelling.

What is wrong with enom?
