Portland.org sells for $9,999 on Sedo. Ok, I don't follow the .org geo namespace much this seems to me like a really really good BUY. What's your take?

Maybe it is a good buy if you can find another buyer to flip to.

But .com is not only one of the best investments (in the domain industry), it is also one of the safest. So why wander off to .org if the .com is proven and much more successful.

.org has always seemed to be the "trusting" extension in my eyes. When I see portland.org, I think of a charitable organization. When I see portland.com I'm thinking commercial site, trying to take my money.

.org is really good bet , I'm not sure how good it works for geo but it works excellent for health related websites

I was wondering the same thing.

If a domainer bought this simply to park, well...not the best choice in the world.

Development potential is there but I am not sure how much traffic the .org would get with the .com already developed and in use.

This domain is worth at least twice that much from an end user.

Thank you for your comments re: Portland.org.

Please look for this name in the Live Auction in the upcoming Las Vegas TRAFFIC. Being featured with a very low reserve.

I noticed the sell on the Sedo front page and the first thing I thought was what an amazing bargain the buyer got. It's reassuring knowing I wasn't the only surprised by how low it went for.

This was a great buy...from a developers stand point. It will be really interesting what the market says in an auction - I think this is a 25k name but not sure if there will be a buyer right now.

Excellent buy. I love GEo_Org

Portland also has dual use as it is a major city in Oregon and Maine.

From what I'm seeing on my end, the .org market seems to be rapidly softening. The drop quality for the extension has gone way up recently too. These are great domains for developing small niche websites with, as Google ranks them well.

I think if I were offered 10K for portland.org in today's market, I would probably take the money and run.

I think New Zealand.org sold for around 15k recently...I like that deal much better but it shows what a great geo.org is going for right now

When I think of Portland.Org, I think of Portland.Oregon :approve:

I was thinking the same thing - great price for the name, especially if it will be for this use.

Very low price. I'm actually looking to sell Amsterdam.org - and if this is an indication of the prices out there i'll put it back in the box.
