www.thepokerpost.com is a poker article site which runs on a copy of http://www.interspire.com/articlelive/" interspires article live (worth $239.00 USD and included in sale price)
Running the Site
The site is incredibly easy to run. Everything is controlled via a control panel. Readers may sign up and become and author. The site usually gets a submission every other month. all you need to do is authorise it.
What the site needs
the buyer can buy this site and simply authorise new articles and they would continue to make cash from the site. if however they want to progress it needs
* more promotion
* more articles
* banners replaced with poker banners to start earning commissions
History of the Domain
The domain has been live since June 2003. It started life as a poker discussion forum. i aquired it a year or so later. i really didnt know what to do with it if im honest and never ever really put much effort into it. at one point i had just parked it until i decided what to do with it. eventually i decided to turn it into a poker article site and its been like that ever since.
you can see what the site has looked like over the years at http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.thepokerpost.com
i tried to sell this at one point last year for mid to high $xxx. The reason the price is much higher now is because
* page rank is higher
* Traffic has more than doubled
* Before it didnt have any ads and therefore didnt bring in any revenue,now it uses text-link-ads and is providing a very stable income every month.
Revenue
the site has very little advertising and is making $150 per month solely from text link ads. These text links sell for $35 which brings me in $17.50. Ive only had it on text-link-ads a few months and nearly all spaces are sold.
ive attached a screenshot of the income from text link ads. you can verify this info by going to text-link-ads and viewing the info on the site. please bear in mind that there is currently 9 out of 10 ads sold and when the last ad is sold (which i expect very soon) you will not be able to see the listing through the site as there will be no ad spaces available.
As i said, when the last ad is sold the site will be bringing me in $175 per month just through text-link-ads. Thats $2100 per year just through 10 text links at the top of the page.
The two banner areas are and always have been just advertising my discussion community. ive never attempted to promote or market any poker site. Therefore i believe the site is underperforming. Though i made the decision to promote my own site instead of trying to make money through referrals.
Im sure that the buyer would start making more cash simply by removing my banners and advertising some poker sites (most average $75 per referral or 20% of earnings)
im not a huge fan of selling a site which has 'potential' etc but i do stress that the site would be making me more money if i had placed a few pokerstars banners up.
Traffic
nearly 100% from search engines. i have only linked to the site from one other website, namely my poker community. and through that it has only had 2 visits this month. there is still a few links to the site from years ago as well.
its averaging over 100 daily uniques. you can see a summary of this traffic from in the attached image i can post any area of the stats you want and upload it here if neccessary
Payment Options
I will accept neteller, bank transfers and escrow. Buyer must pay all fees of any payment site. Escrow remains the safest option for everyone involved NO PAYPAL!
site will not be transferred until payment is received in full.
Site Transfer
I have my own server so there is no rush to get it off. If it takes a day, week or even a few months til you can get it transferred to your site then so be it. Ill do everything i can to help with the site transfer.
buyer will get full access to the hosting area and i can email the site in zip format too if requested
The domain name is at enom so transfer is free. i also have thepokerpost.net which i will be throwing in with the sale (arent i nice!)
Reason for Selling
Well ive never had the time or energy to look after the site and my other sites however the main reason im trying to sell now is to raise cash for my tax as the new tax year has just started in the uk. (although im living in new zealand at the moment, i need to pay up until november last year)
Site Questions
ive did my best to cover everything but im sure there will still be some questions which need answered.
if its about the price, id prefer if any questions were via private message. any other questions, i would prefer they were asked in the open thread to save me repeating the same information over and over via pm.
Im living in auckland (new zealand) just now so i will no doubt be in the land of zzzzzzzz when a lot of you post. please bear this in mind. ill be paying close attention to this and will answer questions as soon as i can.
As i said, ill do my best to answer all questions quickly but i would also appreciate if questions were relevant. if you dont think the sites worth it then dont bid
at the end of the day, my cards are on the table. it isnt the most beautiful website on the web but its very easy to run and is making a steady amound of money every month.
Thank you,
Kevin Muldoon
