I would like to start a nice thread here with a good question.

As we all know, the most profitable way in making money off domains is either

a. Developing a domain and selling it down the road
b. Getting your hands on a dropped Domain and selling it.
c. Predicting what may be hot in the future, and grabbing a name early (as we have recently seen with the Tabletpc)

Since many of you guys have been in this game much longer then me, what are some of your resources in finding out what may be hot, what is going to fizzle, ect..????

I know it seems like an obvious answer, "just go on the web and look for "latest technology updates"" or something of that nature. But there may be a fine line between just searching for something, and knowing where to look.

If you feel you can help out in this department, let me know.

Thanks
Bryan

Hi Bryan,

I try to do (c), with some success. One good source is the journal "Science." Another good source is seeing where venture capitalists are putting their money. For my two cents... the following technologies are a large portion of future tech growth...

Genomics/Genetics
Biotechnology/Bionics/Biomaterials
Nanotechnology/Nanomedicine/Nanopharmacology
Neurotech/NeuralNetworks/AI
Robotics
Optical/Holographic (Optical Memory)
VirtualReality/GestureRecognition (Human-Computer Interface)

currently war tech is most supported one.
