Premium Generic Domain Purchase on Afternic

Has anyone in here ever had any issues with domains purchased on Afternic? Just recently (about 2 weeks ago) I purchased a premium one word generic domain at BIN price of $4500. The domain had previous offers but as soon as I saw the extremely low BIN (for a domain easily worth $XXX,XXX I hit the BIN button). I don't want to mention the name right yet but according to compete.com stats the domain receives roughly 80,000 uniques/month. The listing also said the current website was included with the sale of the domain.

Now its been about 2 weeks, Afternic has received my payment but the seller of the domain has not completed step one of the purchase process confirming the sale. If I recall dont sellers need to register with a valid credit card account before listing domains? I have contacted the actual whois site owners several times at every available email address and have not received any responses. What do the rest of you recommend I do?

I've seen this happen before. More than likely, the previous owner must've put the name up at Afternic at a low price and forgotten about it.

If it sounds too good to be true, somebody must've forgotten about it

I was hoping it was just a question of the original domain owner listing the domain not knowing its current value. It appears the domain has been registered by its original owner since 1996 so this could be a possibility. I will let you all know how this turns out but I have been quite skeptical since the first day.

I remember seeing a LLL.com for sale at 3500 bucks at Afternic. When I emailed the owner, he said its not for sale and the listing was by the original owner. I think he subsequently removed the listing.
This could be the case here too..why don't you shoot Afternic an email?

If a domain has been sold outside of Afternic, and the seller didn't remove the domain from his Afternic account, its still there. I see this very often...

I once sent pmt to Afternic, the seller agreed to terms, I receive transfer info from SELLER, etc, then after 3 or 4 days I find out that the seller sold the domain to another member on a different venue for a higher amount!! However, Afternic did return funds. This was a 2 letter .com at a very good bargain. I even contacted the new buyer who denied of any wrong doing. Talk about a RAW deal. :upset:
