I use cpanel for my hosting and to create an addon domain you first need to create a subdomain and then park your domain on that subdomain. This has never been a problem before.

However, for one of my websites....

...let's pretend my domain is mydomain.domain.com and the real domain parked on that subdomain is mydom.com

when I Google "mydom" my subdomain is ranked better than my real domain name.

This might cause confusion among my users. How can I prevent this?

Thanks!

Can you give a real example? I haven't seen this happening.

I prefer not to post my websites here but I will PM you.

After further thought......I wonder if it's because the subdomain is a .com domain and the real domain is a .ccTLD

Could you maybe use the robots.txt file to add your subdomain to the list of not crawlable places on your site? Not sure if it'd work, just a thought...

I contacted my webhost and they setup some kind of re-direct on the subdomain and that seems to have taken care of it.

Thanks for your suggestions.
