I am wondering if one of you might be able to help me. I am currently mediating a dispute between a previous:mad: and current:) domain holder. I am being retained by the previous:mad: domain holder and he would like to know the whois/registrar history of a couple domain names.

Does anyone have a clue as to how I can trace the previous whois record for a domain name?

Any help would be appreciated:yes:

There is an archive of such info. I will search for the link and get back to you. Thomson & Thomson, of course, maintains archives of ownership records, as well, but I don't know for certain that they are all-inclusive. They may represent snap-shots once a week or once a month, for example.

archive.org may be helpful

and a general google search on the name may turn up something

It would be impossible to have a complete - all-inclusive whois archive. I can change my whois information as often as I want, and I know that no one can capture those changes in anywhere near real time...

The archive services use the bulk whois databases they purchase from the registrars - which are updated weekly.
