HI Folks, I am wondering if you can help me. I am a government part time employee and of course my info is out there for all to see, including salaray info. I don't mind because it is a state run site that displays the info, it is not indexed by google because it is a database you must search with a captcha. So there are a few steps to get to my embarassing salaray information.

But they do have excel spreadsheets to download with the info. Some sites have done this and put them on there "people lookup sites" like findthedata.com. Now because of this, all of the employee info is indexed by google.

When you type my name and coworkers' names, our info and salaray info comes up usually on the first page. It is embarassing and I feel violated. Is there anything I can do? I tried to use the url removal tool from google, but nothing yet. I contacted the find the data folks, and no response.

The purpose of displaying my data is to earn referral commissions for the other people lookup sites, google ads and other affiliates etc.

I know my data is out there but this site is a commercial site displaying these databases.

What can I do to get my embarassing salaray info off first page of google.

THanks for your help

If it is considered public information then I don't think there is anything you can do unless you can prove the site poses a risk to you.

You can ask the site to not display your information but IMO typically they'll either ignore the request or dig deeper into you thinking you have something to hide.
