Do you members who posted support for avatars giving the finger to visitors really want to display a professional image to the public?

Don't you desire occasional end-users to come here and buy your domains at high end-user pricing vs low reseller prices? A good way to turn-off end-users is giving them the finger. In entertainment and with Johnny Cash it may be OK but not professional websites.

Dave, are you referring to people that use rude avatars?

Whether the owner of the domain wants to sell to an end-user or not is entirely his choice...yes, the owner might lose a few sales to an end user if he uses some rude avatar (though I highly doubt that...and end user who doesn't understand how forum communities work isn't worth selling to anyway), but thats the owner's own choice..

Dave, I agree with this and will be posting some new avatar rules Monday.

I have been reviewing the avatars for the last 2 weeks and feel they should follow the below rules:
-------------------------------------------------------

The following new rules will be placed into effect regarding forum avatars.

Avatar Rules:
No nudity
No offensive or racist material
No weapons

Conclusion: The purpose of an avatar is to personalize your posts.
With that in mind, it should be related to yourself , eg. picture of you, your car, your company or your business logo or something that will not offend people.

Violations of these rules will result in the loss of custom avatar use for the violating member(s). As always, we reserve the right to determine what is appropriate and what is not appropriate. Multiple violations will result in a user ban.

We will begin enforcing this July 1st, 2008

-----------------------------------------------

A formal announcment will be made Monday.

For the record I love Acroplex's avatar, it's professional and smart looking.

Adam,

I can understand an avatar that has nudity or racist material in it but a weapon come on now. How is an avatar that has a weapon in it offensive?

Do you really think a weapon shooting stuff would be better than an advertisement for a website or your business?

Does it make you look more professional to deal with or less?

I think a payloan.org logo would be better for your sales.

No but I never really saw an avatar as a business tool either. If someone on this forum were to show me that a business avatar increased their sales I might change my mine.

If it had nudity or racist material in it yes but just a weapon no.

If I were to have a logo I would probably put it in the Signature section.

Theo, your avatar is very professional and one of the best.

It also looks larger than others too, is it? How did you make it?

I don't even have an avatar!
