What is the difference between the two.. i know when registring a domain you usually have to wait 60 days to transfer.. does push allow to push it to another user within the 60 days?

Push is when you 'push' the domain to another user within the same registrar.

A transfer is when User A unlocks the domain and provides User B with an auth code allowing User B to acquire the domain at User B's registrar.

As far as I know, you can still push within the 60 days but cannot transfer.

Hope that makes sense.

Keep in mind that if your transferring out of Network Solutions, and made a change to your whois information recently, you now have to wait an additional 60 days from the date of that change before you can transfer out, this is a new added security layer to prevent hijackings.

few more anomylies..
like if you push at godaddy. once whois changed you cant transfer out for 60 days, but you can push to another godaddy account in that time.
i think same for enom, but thats 7 days.
most other registrars none of these limits.

some regiustrars will have authcode listed in details, some will email. some wont give!

there's much to learn.
best advice, do a direct trnasfer out to a good registrar in first place.

someone like Moniker. but then having said that, that can be tricky in itself.
most mine gone smooth though, saves getting robbed on renewals too, being there.

good luck

I'm about to buy a buy a domain that is parked at Godaddy. I have a Gdaddy account myself.

How long will it take before I have full control over the domain? It will be a push we will do right?

Yes, if a domain is in your account from a push you are in total control.

If you push out you lose the domains.

This is totally unrelated to the thread going on, but I could use some advise. I am attempting to make a puchase of a domain but the owner is hesitant because it is being used for their email. Any suggestions on getting past this issue?

I have had this many times, offer to forward his email free for him for 6 months.

That always works, but host it. ;)
