Question about Alexa Traffic Rankings

I came across a domain that just dropped, but never had a site up - yet the Alexa traffic ranking is around 3,700,000.

Would it be safe to assume that the site gets a fair amount of type-ins? Would it be a good idea to register it?

It's an adult-oriented name, by the way.

No, a LOWER Alexa ranking is better than a high one. E.g. Yahoo or AOL would be in the top 10.

georgek is right, in alexa, higher numbers equal lower traffic. With a rank as high as 3.7 million, its probably gonna get like 10-30 uniques per day. Still worth registering.

Thanks, I knew the higher the number, the lower the number of visits. I just didn't know how many daily visits the 3.7million rank translated to.

I have a domain near 1 million...I get no uniques, its from pay per clicks.

Your 3,000,000 domain has no value based on that rating.

Alexa honestly sucks for Traffic ratings its based almost all on USER OF THEIR TOOLBAR which is no where near as high as they say. I was able to get my rank from 3 Mil to 1.2 Mil just but downloading toolbar and only visiting my website with toolbar on. Shows you how useless their rankings are.

No rating is not necessarily worse than 3.7 mil in Alexa. It just means they have no record. You can move your site from from unrated to 3.7mil just by registering your site with them. Has anyone ever seen anything lower than 3.7mil? I think that's about the bottom in sites that are rated.

How does it do for overture type-ins (not for keywords but for the domain name itself)?

How many uniques per day does this site get? This should give us an idea.
