Hi all,

to better organize some software inside our Pc, I'm looking for your help to know what follows:

1- Is there an option which allows Icq to be automatically minimized to my taskbar at startup ? I mean directly minimized without remaining opened ... It's a waste of time minimizing it manually every time.

2- Is there a way to put manually a "Quick launch icon" on my taskbar to have easy access to our most used programs ?

Thanks all since now for reading ... and hopefully for helping if possible :)

Hi, Luigi... :)

For 2) - Just drag-n-drop desired windows executable from your Windows explorer onto taskbar (quick launch part, of course). Works for me...

Its been a long time since I used ICQ. Do you use ICQ regularly? If not I suggest not starting it at all at startup, it uses quite a lot memory when loading ( if I am not mistaken).
As for your question about minimizing it at startup I am not so sure... anyone can help Luigi?

cheers

Thanks Tehno, I'll try.

domainempire, go to trillian.cc and download their client. It allows you access to all IM clients and doesn't have the BS ad window that comes with ICQ and some of the others.

Thanks Spider, I'm already using trillian from time to time, I've an account in AIM, Yahoo and MSN so I use Trillian when my presence is required on one of these 3 Messengers :)

Regarding Icq, I'd prefer keeping it due to its nice design ...

Luigi,

Click Start > Run > type msconfig

Click the startup tab

now untick ICQnet box and click apply

now reboot your machine

Now right click the taskbar > click properties

make sure "show quick launch" is ticked

Then just drag the icq icon onto the task bar next to the start button

And you will be able to start icq when ever you want by double clicking the icq icon :)
